Annually organised by first-year PhD students at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, the EMBL International PhD symposium is renowned to bring together world-leading scientists to discuss about a hot topic in the life sciences. This year, the focus is on biological competition.
Competition drives biology. Molecules compete to interact and react, cells compete for limited resources within their environment, and organisms compete for survival in their ecosystems.
The 15th edition of the EMBL International PhD Symposium will bring together reseearchers working on these different scales of biological competition to foster discussions and to highlight how vital it is to the life sciences.
The event is aimed at early-stage researchers from around the world. Aside from keynote lectures, short talks from participants will be included in the programme. Participants are encouraged to submit an abstract for a short talk or poster presentation. Informal discussions with the keynote speakers as well as socials have also been scheduled in!
Participants can apply for travel grants to attend the symposium.
