Hi,
I`m a third year Microbiology student, and have been assigned the following question ; and have been stuck on it for a number of days:
The question first describes ebola`s replication cycle; and states that the genes are sequentially transcribed from 3`to 5`ends, with progressively less protein being produced towards the 5`end. It then says that the ebola genome was rearranged as shown in the attached picture, and asks what would be the outcome be in terms of protein production and virus particle assembly. I`ve attempted to answer it; and know that the protein production will be slightly out of sequence, with less NP being produced as it is more towards the 5`end. So I think that less viral particles would be synthesized as well as less being transported to the plasma membrane; because proteins such as VP40 and VP24 are also downregulated. .
If anyone who has knowledge in this area could provide any feedback, I`d very much appreciate it.
