In 2010, researchers discovered that by knocking out the aromatase gene in male transgenic mice (which ordinarily develop Alzheimer's symptoms within one year), not only did the mice never develop any Alzheimer's symptoms, but they were smarter than normal mice. In fact, not only were they smarter than normal mice, but they never exhibited any age-related decrease in memory. See: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3506430
Of course, it is impossible to create such a mutation in humans suffering from Alzheimer's. However, the result of this mutation is to greatly increase testosterone levels along with little or no estrogen. Treating men with testosterone plus an aromatase inhibitor, such as anastrozole, should effectively mimic this effect. This protocol may even be effective in women. Recently, a 90 year old woman who refused conventional medical treatment for invasive breast cancer agreed to try testosterone plus anastrozole. The result was not just a 12-fold reduction in tumor volume after 3 months, but also improved memory. See here.
Considering what a horrible disease Alzheimer's is, and considering that any doctor can prescribe testosterone plus anastrozole off-label for Alzheimer's, the question is why hasn't any doctor tried this? If any have tried it, why haven't they published their results?
