Coomassie protein reagent (Bradford reagent)

Materials

To prepare 1 L of reagent use:

• 100 mg Coomassie brilliant blue G-250 (0.01% w/v final c)
• 50 mL 95% ethanol (4.7% w/v)
• 100 mL 85% phosphoric acid (8.5% w/v)

Procedure

Add 100 mg of Coomassie brilliant blue G-250 to 50 mL of 95% ethanol and mix. Slowly add 100 mL of 85% phosphoric acid and dilute with distilled water to a final volume of 1 L. Filter through Whatman no. 1 filter paper.

Store up to 1 month at RT or 3 months at 4 °C.
