Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) reconstitution

Recipe Created on 13 Mar 2013

Authors

Vibor Laketa

Procedure

Recombinant human HGF (R&D Systems, Cat. #294-HG) is reconstituted in PBS containing 0.2% BSA (manufacturers' instructions indicate "at least" 0.1% BSA, I'm using 0.2% BSA) at the concentration of 50µg/ml.

This means that 5µg of HGF is dissolved in 100µl of PBS/0.2%BSA.

Aliquote and store at -70°C.

According to manucafturers' instructions it is stable for 3 months when reconstituted in this way and kept on -70°C. I used it up to 6 months with no problems (it could probably be used even longer).

To prepare 0.2%BSA/PBS solution I diluted 35% Albumin Solution (Sigma, Cat. # A7979-50ml) 175 times (for example, 2µl of 35% Albumin Solution in 348µl of PBS gives 0.2% BSA/PBS)
